Chapter 1592. Arriving at the Sun Ray Sect.
Chapter 1592. Arriving at the Sun Ray Sect.
In the Sun Ray Sect’s area, there were other ordinary sects. It was a place near a large desert and also surrounded by brown-leaved forests and some small mountains.
Overall, it was quite a hot environment, and the Sun’s influence in this area was powerful to the point that there were some forbidden regions where heat had gathered to the point of affecting immortal cultivators.
Creatures that lived under the sand, some that swam in it, and bird and runner creatures who hunted during day or night could be seen frolicking. Even in a desert environment, there was no scarcity or difficulty living in some areas. Moreover, the cities built in the desert were surrounded by specialized formations that helped regulate temperature and sunlight to a certain degree.
That day, it was a bit different.
As Yasenia’s massive wingspan flew over the desert zone, her shadow caused beasts and humans alike to lift their heads. The sight of the creature whose size was incomparable to anything they had ever seen made absolutely everyone feel their breath stop.
Predators hunting stopped moving, and even the prey being chased paused as if time had suddenly stopped. It was a strange scene where, everywhere Yasenia flew over, the world would momentarily stop to avoid bothering or even catching the attention of the dragon flying overhead.
Falicia, having lived in this location for a long while, knew how brutal the environment in this place was. Yet, when she looked down, what she saw was the world freezing out of sheer terror as they flew over.
Tatyana glanced at Falicia once and then looked down at Yasenia. "Little Treasure, are you planning on striking their formation down or stopping in front of their sect?"
Yasenia chuckled, her voice ethereal and taking over the space around them. "Why would I be so violent? We are not going there to act like thugs this time."
Falicia’s lips twitched at the ’this time’ Yasenia mentioned. "Um... Have you acted like thugs before, Lady Yasenia?"
Yasenia answered with a teasing tone. "Perhaps. Some people really got on my nerves some years ago, and I decided to go scorched earth on everyone."
Andrea muttered. "I wonder how much you threw off the balance in those worlds? Moreover, since you targeted the righteous side because the demonic one knew to keep their noses out of trouble..."
While Andrea didn’t continue, the implications made Falicia understand that Yasenia was a morally grey being. She probably had the same probability of becoming a savior as of a world-ender.
’I need to make sure that Derio doesn’t offend her...’
Derio, the Sun Ray Sect Master, was currently cultivating in his room with eyes closed. However, his calm was soon broken, as he felt a terrifying existence approaching quite rapidly.
His eyes opened, revealing a pair of rare, ruby-like eyes. His body was tall and muscular, and his hair was a brownish blonde. Like most people living in the desert, he had light brown skin from the sun’s marks during his early years and cultivation.
As he glanced over with a frown, a pulse of energy alerted everyone, and he stepped outside. Many women and men from the sect, a mix of humans and beast-humans, flashed outside quickly at his call. A voluptuous, brown-skinned woman asked, confused. "What is wrong, Sect Master?"
Derio frowned. "Don’t you feel the presence approaching?"
While he was by far the strongest in the sect, there were others who were not too far behind. That woman, being one of the grand elders, was one of them. She glanced puzzled in the direction Derio was looking, and soon, she sensed it.
"...What is that?"
Others caught Yasenia’s presence as well, and when they did, Yasenia noticed as well. Her golden slit eyes flashed as her lips arched faintly. "We’ve been discovered, so make sure to steady yourselves. I am accelerating."
Her powerful chest and back muscles strained, and her massive wings raised high. Falicia looked at the two walls rising at the sides, and the next second, those wings flapped down incredibly fast. As the wings moved down, Falicia could see space itself compressing under their strength, and a second later, the surroundings blurred.
BOOM!!!
Yasenia’s dragon body became a streak of blue light, space precariously wobbling in her wake like water did when someone swam by.
Derio’s face, who had been solemn, gained a trace of shock as the creature suddenly accelerated and began crossing the distance ridiculously quickly. "Prepare for the worst. Activate defensive formations!"
It took less than a few seconds, and around 10 seconds later, they saw a dot in the distance. This dot only remained as such for less than a second before a creature so massive it covered the entire sky arrived at the sect’s vicinity and stopped high up in the sky.
The dragon, looking like a patch of night sky having taken a dragon form, flapped her massive wings leisurely as the wind she carried smashed against the formation with a deafening sound.
Of course, not wanting to be in conflict from her arrival, Yasenia made sure that the wind would not hurt anyone.
Derio glanced at the massive dragon, glancing down at him curiously, and tensed up. "What is it that you want?"
Yasenia blinked and chuckled. "So straightforward. I thought you’d welcome me first." Her eyes scanned the man before her, and she secretly nodded. ’While he is weaker than the Scarlet Sun Emperor and Empress, his strength is considerable. No wonder he can act as a Sect Master in this world.’
Falicia, not wanting to cause misunderstandings between both parties, quickly jumped from Yasenia’s head and descended. Derio’s eyes widened. "Falicia?"
Falicia smiled. "I am back, as promised." She then added, looking behind her. "Also, do not misunderstand. This dragon over here, named Lady Yasenia, is not hostile. She just helped me come over."
Derio’s mind was a bit convoluted. However, he decided to first ease her attitude, just in case. If it was as Falicia said, he didn’t need to act so defensively.
The voluptuous woman by his side frowned a little when she saw Falicia, though. There was a trace of resentment in her eyes. ’This arrogant woman has returned again. Tsk, just acting hard to get.’
Looking up, Derio spoke. "Um... Lady Yasenia, we don’t really have a place for a creature of your size. So, our hospitality might be insufficient. Would you like to move to the mountains south of our sect?"
Yasenia smiled. "There is no need for that."
Her body flashed with blue light, and a second later, she appeared by Falicia together with the maids and the others in her smaller dragon form. "I guess this should make it convenient, right?"
It was then that Derio and the others noticed the group behind Yasenia. However, they didn’t dare have any other thoughts. Derio nodded. "Yes, please, come inside."
A man with a stocky build and a deep voice spoke up. "Sect Master... Isn’t it too hasty?"
Derio answered fairly. "Lady Yasenia is stronger than I. There is no need for her to act politely if she had come with malicious intentions. Moreover..." He smiled. "She is Falicia’s guest. I am sure Falicia would not carry someone dangerous to our place."
Falicia felt internally happy, her heart fluttering, but her face remained somewhat indifferent out of sheer stubbornness.
When the formation was lowered, Falicia flew over and spoke. "Are you going to keep the promise you made over seven centuries ago?"
Derio smiled, glancing at her with gentle eyes. "There is no rush. We have not seen each other for so long, and we have new guests. Once you and your guests have settled, we can proceed with the fight."
Falicia nodded faintly, but her lips twitched upward.
Yasenia’s eyes, looking at Falicia, were... complicated. "Is that what you call a tsundere, Mom?"
Tatyana blinked and laughed. "I am surprised you remember that term. Also... yes. You could say that."
Yasenia sighed. "Not being honest is not good."
Once they entered the sect, the sight before them was quite unique. There were no tall structures, most of them being half-buried underground. You could also see some tall pagodas in the distance, and other more complex tower structures.
Overall, it was quite a minimalistic sect at first glance, but with deep complexity once you took your time to glance around.
As Yasenia walked behind the elders and Sect Master, she caught the attention of almost every disciple.
"Look over there! Such a beautiful dragon..."
"Do you think she is the mount of one of those fairies?"
"They are from afar, right? Their clear skin is so smooth and glossy..."
"A few of them seem to be locals, though. I wonder where these fairies came from?"
Derio heard the murmurs and looked back apologetically. "Sorry for the comments. The disciples are curious."
Yasenia, being an expert at ignoring comments, stopped glancing around and blinked, confused. "What comments?"
The elders and Derio were a bit confused and awkward. ’Did she not listen, or is she trying to be considerate?’
Derio coughed and smiled. "As long as Lady Yasenia is not offended. Thank you for your magnanimity."
Evelyn and the girls glanced at Yasenia’s puzzled expression and felt their eyes crinkle with laughter. ’If the Sect Master knew that Yasenia completely ignored those types of comments, how would he feel?’
Somewhat curious, and not wanting to interrupt Falicia and Derio’s reunion, Yasenia looked at the voluptuous woman who seemed to have quite a bit of authority. "Are there any interesting places around here?"
The woman had not expected the dragon to speak to her, so she slowed her pace to match Yasenia’s level. She then pondered. "There are quite a few resource-rich locations. There are also a few forbidden zones as well. Secret Realms appear from time to time... Is any of that interesting?"
Yasenia nodded, looking down at her with interest. "We wanted to visit the surroundings a bit. I am not expecting much, but who knows? We might find a nice treasure or two."
The woman’s eyebrow twitched. ’Aren’t you looking down on our place too much?’
Manifesting a long, handcrafted pipe, she brought it to her lips and placed her arm below her ample bosom. After taking a gentle breath, she exhaled and commented. "I wanted to ask, how did you encounter that woman, Falicia? She is not usually someone who is too social."
Yasenia spoke. "She broke through a trial my wife created, so she got to know me by luck and skill. Then, she asked me to train her in exchange for a treasure, so I did. It has been quite a bit of time since then."
The woman assumed "quite a bit of time" meant a few centuries, not a few years, making her nod. "I see. Quite a coincidence indeed. Also... wife? I thought you were female, as they call you Lady Yasenia."
Yasenia hummed and smiled. "It’s complicated. I am as much female as I am male, haha."
The woman blinked and suddenly recalled, her eyebrow rising in interest. "Oh? Are you one of those who are born with both female and male genitalia?"
Yasenia was somewhat surprised, but not too shocked, that she knew. She nodded easily. "Yes. That’s the case."
The woman laughed, sending a flirtatious glance over. "I’ve never been with someone like that. How about it?"
Yasenia first declined respectfully. "I am loyal to my wives. Sorry, I can’t agree."
The woman sighed. "Quite a shame. I didn’t expect a dragon to be so rigid. Well, it is what it is."
Then, she shook her head and stopped insisting. Lucky for her, because several pairs of eyes behind her had silently shifted and rested on the back of her head.
Falicia, who had been listening secretly, felt cold sweat run down her back.
