Chapter 638 Searching Throughout the Mountains
Chapter 638 Searching Throughout the Mountains
If that was the case, it would be a terrible situation for Colding, even if he managed to kill Kulad and his men. He didn’t care much for the experts from the East, but if there were too many of them... well, even an army of ants can kill an elephant. They might not be guaranteed to die, but it would be a near thing. At that point, Cain’s Left Hand would be the last thing on his mind. How could they search for it if they were all dead?
As this thought crossed his mind, Colding’s expression turned grim. He truly wanted to annihilate Kulad and his followers, but this possibility stayed his hand. A secret frustration gnawed at him.
"Kulad, I’ll spare you for now," Colding said, his tone indifferent. His scarlet eyes were ice-cold, and murderous intent swirled within them. "Once Cain’s Left Hand is found, you and everyone in the Secret Alliance are dead for sure!"
"Hmph! When the time comes, we’ll see who kills whom! Colding, just you wait," Kulad retorted with a cold snort. He then led the members of the Secret Alliance away to begin the search for Cain’s Left Hand.
Watching them leave, Colding also snorted. "We’re leaving. Find Cain’s Left Hand!" With that, he led the Demon Banquet Alliance away as well.
Hidden in the trees, Lin Kuang and the others witnessed the entire exchange. "Gufeng, take five people and follow the Demon Banquet Alliance," Chen Anhun said calmly. "I’ll take the rest to monitor the Secret Alliance. If either of us finds anything, we converge and take them down!" Even when facing two Blood Clan Elders, Chen Anhun showed no fear, a clear sign that his strength was not to be underestimated.
"Alright, I’m on it." Gufeng casually selected five people and quickly departed, heading straight for Colding’s group.
After Gufeng’s group left, Chen Anhun turned his gaze to Lin Kuang. "Lin Kuang, Britney, you two stay here and don’t move. Since you command the Force of Nature, concealing yourselves shouldn’t be a problem, right?"
Lin Kuang nodded. "Right. They won’t find us."
"Good. We’re off, then. You two be careful," Chen Anhun said again.
In response, Lin Kuang nodded once more. The Force of Nature emanated from him, enveloping both himself and Britney. In an instant, their auras vanished completely from Chen Anhun’s perception.
Sensing their disappearance, Chen Anhun breathed a sigh of relief and led the remaining four people away, heading directly for Kulad’s party.
Lin Kuang was left burning with the desire for his power to surge. It was obvious Chen Anhun had left him and Britney behind for fear they would be a liability. The feeling of being left behind was intensely irritating. How long had it been? For years, he’d been forced to watch battles from the sidelines. The feeling was unbearable. I need to get stronger. Much stronger.
In truth, it was incredibly rare for someone of Lin Kuang’s age to possess such strength. The youngest members of Dragon Front were in their thirties, and they were the absolute elite from across the country; otherwise, they never would have qualified to join. Although Lin Kuang’s power was a bit less than theirs, this was only natural. It was a fact, however, that brought him little comfort.
Sensing his frustration, Britney gently squeezed his hand. Her soft, beautiful eyes offered him silent comfort. Lin Kuang let out a long breath and managed a small smile, signaling that he was alright.
「Let us leave the two waiting here for now and turn to Chen Anhun.」
Chen Anhun and his men followed Kulad’s group from a great distance. Despite his power, Elder Kulad was completely unaware that his party was being tailed.
After landing in the forest, Kulad gave his orders. "Split into teams of two and search. Notify me immediately if you find anything."
"Yes, esteemed Elder Kulad," his followers replied before quickly dispersing to begin the search.
Chen Anhun frowned. Kulad’s party had split into six teams, but his own group only consisted of five people. He assigned his four men to tail four of the teams, while he would personally track Kulad. This left one of their teams completely unwatched.
Once his men were dispatched, Kulad set out with Cros to begin his own search. Time was of the essence. The Demon Banquet Alliance was still out there, and it would be disastrous if they found Cain’s Left Hand first. From a safe distance, Chen Anhun shadowed Kulad, quietly observing his every move.
On the other side of the mountain, the Demon Banquet Alliance had also split up. They formed eight teams of two, with each pair belonging to the same Clan. Witnessing this, Gufeng ordered his men to begin tailing them. With only five men besides himself, two of the enemy teams would have to go untracked. Gufeng himself followed Colding, silently observing his every move.
In an instant, everyone on Pegasus Mountain—save for Lin Kuang and Britney—was frantically searching for Cain’s Left Hand.
Lin Kuang sat stewing in his own helplessness. He felt useless, and his powerlessness made his mood sour. Britney held his hand tightly, her touch soothing the irritation in his heart. Her simple comfort was surprisingly effective; without it, Lin Kuang felt he might have made a rash mistake.
Time trickled by, seeming to move both quickly and slowly at once. Before they knew it, it was past midnight.
The weather was poor. A thick layer of clouds blanketed the sky, making the already dark night even gloomier. Down in the forest, it was frighteningly pitch-black, to the point where you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face.
By now, neither the Secret Alliance nor the Demon Banquet Alliance had found anything, despite having already searched more than half of Pegasus Mountain.
"Damn it, where on earth is Cain’s Left Hand?!" Colding finally growled, his long and fruitless search fraying his nerves. Impatience flashed in his blood-red eyes. He couldn’t let the Secret Alliance get their hands on it; that would be a disaster for his people.
Colding wasn’t the only one feeling anxious; Kulad was equally distressed. They had combed through most of Pegasus Mountain, yet there was still no sign of Cain’s Left Hand. It would be a lie to say he wasn’t worried. But worry was useless. All they could do was keep searching.
"Damn it! Keep searching!" Kulad snarled, his face twisting into a nasty expression. "Even if you have to dig three feet into the ground, find Cain’s Left Hand!"
