Chapter 755 You’re cheating
Chapter 755 You’re cheating
Damon moved through the landscape like a phantom, his figure flickering from one location to another as he teleported repeatedly. Every few seconds, his primordial senses swept the surrounding terrain, searching for the next fluctuation in energy.
The next treasure appeared inside a ruined shrine buried deep within a forest. Damon arrived silently. The broken stone pillars and moss-covered statues suggested that this place had once been important long ago, but now it was little more than a forgotten ruin.
At the center of the shrine sat a bronze incense burner. The object looked completely ordinary. But the faint distortion in the surrounding energy told him otherwise.
The moment his hand touched the incense burner, the object shattered into particles of light and condensed into a thin jade ring.
Damon stored it away immediately. Before he could move again, a loud explosion resounded.
A golden blur crashed into the shrine courtyard, sending dust and leaves flying in all directions. Kael landed a few meters away. He looked around at the empty shrine before turning his gaze toward Damon. Then he sighed dramatically. "You're cheating."
Damon tilted his head slightly. "You're just slow."
Kael snorted. "Slow? I got one before you, bruh." He took out a scented candle and flashed it in front of Damon.
Damon's face twitched. He had half a mind to fight the guy for it then and there, but that would only be a waste of time. This entire world was teeming with people. There was no point in fighting over one treasure. The focus had to be on the big picture. Without another word he disappeared and Kael burst into laughter. "Don't be such a sore loser!" Damon was already gone but a voice echoed behind him. "I heard that."
Kael snarled and bounded again. On the other side, Damon had no plans to slow down.
Going to these places one by one also seemed like a waste of time. He was not interested in some childish race. He needed more. He needed to get there before the others. Moreover, with every second he was delaying, he was losing precious concepts which were swirling in his mind from the drop of the ancestor's blood. Those effects weren't going to stay there forever.
Damon stopped and did not move. He took a moment and summoned his blood avatar. The next moment, he produced two more blood orbs. Sucking a big breath of air, he focused on these two blood orbs.
Blood elongated, twisted, and condensed. Slowly, shapes began forming within the floating masses. Two more figures stepped out of the swirling crimson.
Three identical Damons now stood, each one carrying the same calm expression and the same cold crimson eyes. Their auras were slightly weaker than the original, but the difference was small enough.
Thanks to the new insights he had gained, doing this much was not a big deal for him. "Good." Damon nodded in satisfaction as he examined them. He then summoned all of his shadow army. He them all out at once. Each clone took a portion of the shadow army to help with the search. Within seconds, everything was organized and executed.
"Now let's see who gathers the most treasures."
At the same time, Damon sat down and started absorbing all the treasures he had amassed so far. It was not the most ideal condition but he decided to give it a go anyways. He then summoned his other blood avatar to stand guard next to him while he meditated.
Time ticked by quickly. Damon's blood avatars busily raided all the places with the treasures hidden. A few times they ran into the elves and a few times into the beastkin.
"Heh. You sent a clone? You have got guts!" Kael tried attacking the blood avatar but he instantly regretted that decision. Poison burst forth rampaging wildly. The beastkin barely escaped from certain death, sweating profusely. His confidence from earlier completely vanished.
The elves on the other hand were not so luckily and most of the group ended up twitching on the ground before the blood avatar slaughtered them and absorbed the blood essence. Damon had asked them to avoid conflict as much as possible but not if someone stood in their way.
Soon, his blood avatars rampaged through the world, collecting all the dao treasures they came across one after the other. In the next couple of days, they ended up collecting more than a hundred treasures, some of them small and insignificant while some of them pretty high-quality.
Damon did not move an inch as he hurriedly absorbed one treasure after another. With each, something in his core was solidifying and he kept pushing further and further.
This continued and quickly hundred became two hundred and then three hundred. The whole world was in chaos. Everyone was now talking about Damon's blood avatars. Everywhere people went, they kept encountering the same terrifying figure.
Some claimed they had seen three. Others swore there were five. A terrified group of beastkin insisted there were at least ten roaming the wilderness like crimson phantoms. The rumors spread faster than wildfire.
"Wherever there's a treasure… one of them appears."
"He doesn't even fight half the time. He just takes it and disappears."
"I saw one get killed! It turned into blood mist and another one appeared somewhere else!"
Panic slowly crept into the hearts of the competitors. Meanwhile, deep within a quiet valley surrounded by towering cliffs, the original Damon remained seated on the ground, completely motionless.
Treasure after treasure floated around him like a small constellation. Jade rings. Bronze tokens. fractured tablets. spirit beads. ancient charms. Every one of them helped solidify a fragment of the Dao.
As each treasure shattered into light and dissolved into his body, Damon's aura grew denser and more profound. Crimson runes flickered faintly across his skin before fading again. Inside his mind, the Dao of Blood continued unfolding.
Rivers of blood flowed through endless battlefields. The life force of countless beings rose and fell like tides. Birth, slaughter, sacrifice, rebirth. The cycle repeated again and again. Damon's breathing slowed. His heartbeat gradually aligned with the rhythm of that endless crimson river.
Nearby, his blood avatar stood guard silently, crimson eyes scanning the surroundings without pause. Hours turned into days. The Dao fragments continued pouring into Damon's core like rivers feeding an ocean.
Then suddenly, his eyes snapped open. A terrifying pressure erupted from his body, flattening the grass and cracking the ground beneath him. The blood avatar guarding him immediately knelt.
Damon slowly stood up. Far away across the world, all of his roaming blood avatars paused for a single brief moment. Then they all smiled at the exact same time.
