Chapter 1619 - 1601
Chapter 1619 - 1601
Nangong Yunxi furrowed his brows tightly, standing there silently for a long time without speaking.
Xia Xuan also wore a troubled expression, unsure of what to do next. If the space-time slipped from their control, who could say whether it would lead to irreversible consequences in the future?
"What else did Mu Yunfan say?" Nangong Yunxi calmed down, walked over to the sofa, and sat down. He stared blankly ahead as he asked.
"He didn’t say much else, but just this alone is enough to give us a headache. If space-time really goes into chaos, how will we control it?"
Xia Xuan worriedly looked at Nangong Yunxi, but found that he wasn’t anxious at all. Aside from a slight expression of worry earlier, he now seemed completely indifferent.
"Yunxi, aren’t you even a little bit worried?"
Xia Xuan asked in bewilderment, feeling like he was about to lose his mind with worry.
Nangong Yunxi let out a faint laugh and shook his head gently. "What’s the use of worrying? Besides, don’t forget, our goal is to make sure Chu Ge and the others never return. If chaos erupts in space-time, it means they won’t come back at all, saving us some trouble."
"..." Xia Xuan was taken aback, then fell silent.
He stared deeply ahead, lost in thought.
Nangong Yunxi chuckled, "I know what you’re thinking. Although we can’t control the final outcome, as long as we complete our plan, that’s enough. As for what disasters space-time might cause, they don’t matter to me at all!"
Xia Xuan gave Nangong Yunxi a deep look. He was right; their main goal was simply to execute their plan, without worrying about other things.
But when things go beyond your control, it always feels unsettling.
He sighed softly, "So should we just let this develop as it will?"
Nangong Yunxi pondered, his eyes narrowing slightly, fingers gently rubbing as if in thought. After a moment, he said, "For now, let Mu Yunfan keep an eye on things. Since this situation is out of our control, we’ll play the cards Heaven has dealt us."
Xia Xuan looked at him in confusion, unsure of what he meant by this.
Nangong Yunxi saw the perplexed look on his face and knew he didn’t understand. He curved his lips slightly, "Our objective is to complete our plan, and any impacts caused by natural disasters aren’t our concern. The ones who should be most worried by a space-time chaos are them, not us."
Xia Xuan silently watched him. While that might be true, the chaos could still affect them, especially since Ru Xue and Ye Liang were in another space-time. If things went out of control, wouldn’t their lives be at risk?
Ye Liang, after all, was like a daughter to him, even if he didn’t like her personality very much. Nonetheless, she was dear to him.
Nangong Yunxi knew what he was worrying about. "Don’t worry. Even though the Eighth Space-Time has appeared, it won’t have an immediate impact."
Xia Xuan sighed, there was nothing left to do now except pray that Ye Liang and the others complete their mission soon and return safely.
"By the way, what’s the current situation with the Nangong Family?" Nangong Yunxi asked curiously, as Old Master Nangong hadn’t sought him out recently and he hadn’t returned to the Nangong Mansion.
"There’s been no news, and there’s been no word about them involving the police to search for anyone."
This period, Xia Xuan’s focus wasn’t on the Nangong Family, so he wasn’t very informed.
"In the next few days, keep an eye on Ye Chen and investigate his real reason for returning to the country," Nangong Yunxi pondered for a moment and instructed.
Xia Xuan looked at him in confusion, "Do you suspect he’s here for us?"
Nangong Yunxi sneered coldly, nodding, "It’s a possibility we can’t exclude. He hasn’t been back for ten years, but chooses this moment to return. It’s hard not to suspect he’s targeting us."
If Ye Chen were indeed targeting them, many things could become troublesome. Ye Chen was a hidden danger, and they didn’t know how much he knew about their Wufeng Palace.
Though many years had passed, many mechanisms and confidential internal matters had never changed, so his knowledge could still be relevant.
"I understand. I’ll keep an eye on Ye Chen’s affairs, don’t worry," Xia Xuan nodded.
Leaving Nangong Yunxi’s house, Xia Xuan looked up at the sky. Today’s weather was overcast and oppressive, like the precursor to a storm.
It was winter, and the cold wind on his face was piercing. He sighed deeply and got into the car.
Yunxi hadn’t left; she had been listening from a hidden corner all along. During this period since her return, she wasn’t clear about whatever it was that Nangong Yunxi and the others were planning, but she knew it wasn’t anything good.
She emerged from the shadows, bumping right into Nangong Yunxi.
Nangong Yunxi frowned at her, questioning, "What did you just hear?"
Yunxi’s heart skipped a beat. She pressed her lips together tightly and, facing Nangong Yunxi’s questioning cold eyes, felt inexplicably nervous.
She had heard from others that Nangong Yunxi was ill, withdrawn, and not fond of talking to people. But after interacting with him, she realized that those bad rumors outside about him were all an act!
"I didn’t hear your conversation. I was just packing my things," Yunxi tried to steady herself and replied calmly.
Nangong Yunxi raised an eyebrow, clearly not believing her.
Yunxi laughed and raised her eyes, her gaze holding a peculiar light, "So what do you think I overhead from your conversation?"
Nangong Yunxi frowned.
"Are you saying your discussion had to be kept secret?" Yunxi asked again.
There was a mix of disdain and sarcasm at the corner of her lips, which inexplicably provoked some anger in Nangong Yunxi.
"It’s good if you didn’t hear. If you did, it’s best to pretend not to know," Nangong Yunxi’s tone deepened, his eyes warning as he spoke.
Yunxi’s lips pressed down too, "Rest assured, I’m not interested in your affairs. I just pray that when three months are up, I can move out immediately."
Nangong Yunxi’s eyes flashed with surprise; he almost forgot that he and Yunxi had an agreement, and when three months were up, it would be dissolved.
Heh, it seemed Yunxi had been praying for the term to end all along.
"It won’t be long now,"
