Chapter 1157 - 615: Putting on a Show (Part 3)
Her requests to meet Changtian and Ning Xiaoxian both failed; she’s been in low spirits these past few days. Somehow, Huomu Valley is not far from the guest residence. After receiving confirmation from the accompanying Hidden Stream Guards, the master and servant duo came to the woods to stroll and relax. The geothermal heat lingered here, with no trace of coldness, making it a rare paradise in winter.
Having Hidden Guards accompany them, the master and servant couldn’t chat freely. Ping’er only chose topics she enjoyed discussing, which finally brought a smile to the lady’s face, Miss Jin. They hadn’t walked far when suddenly their Hidden Guard stiffened, then stepped in front of them: "Little Pavilion Master, please return."
"What’s the matter?" Their cultivation wasn’t as strong as their guards, so they couldn’t detect the movements ahead.
The Hidden Guard whispered, "Lord Divine Monarch is ahead."
Yan Lingxue had not yet spoken when Ping’er exclaimed gladly, "There’s no better time than now, lead the way quickly."
The Hidden Guard refused to step aside, showing an expression of difficulty: "Lord Divine Monarch always enjoys peace and doesn’t like being disturbed by outsiders..."
Yan Lingxue smiled, "I have important matters to discuss with your lord. It involves next year’s mineral allocation for Tianling Pavilion. It’s already December, and Lingxue must get the information to my brother before January. If you block me now, can you bear the responsibility later?"
Her words were gentle and combined with her captivating beauty, having a unique charm that left the Hidden Guard dazed, momentarily unsure how to respond.
Yan Lingxue said no more, walking directly past him. The Hidden Guard wanted to stop her, but recalling her words "can you bear the responsibility later," he withdrew his hand.
Ping’er followed with a sly smile, giving her lady a thumbs-up.
Yet Yan Lingxue’s heart was racing, thinking of each encounter with Lord Divine Monarch, filled with both anticipation and fear.
The master and servant slowed their pace, turned around a tall firewood tree, and finally saw the familiar figure sitting on the rock. He sat with his back to them, upright, wearing a smooth-as-satin robe with dark gold dragon patterns, free of a single crease. His soft, black hair fell loose, compared to the golden crown at the evening feast, appearing less cold and forbidding, and more carefree and unrestrained.
Yan Lingxue’s heart beat even faster.
Before she could speak, Changtian had already calmly said, "Little Pavilion Master, please halt." His words carried irresistible force, and the two women stood still.
She was slightly taken aback, realizing only then that he was actually holding someone, but her entire focus had been on him, missing this obvious fact.
The person was tightly wrapped in a silver fox fur cloak, exposing only a small section of pale green pants below the calves. Yan Lingxue immediately identified this as a woman because a pair of delicately contoured, beautifully proportioned small feet were secretly peeking out from underneath the cloak, which had no shoes or socks on but were elegantly bare at the ankles. Even with her discerning eyes, these feet were exquisite.
Sensing something, Changtian immediately pulled the cloak over, and the pair of jade feet vanished like a fleeting glimpse.
She felt a tinge of bitterness in her heart. How could the person Lord Divine Monarch cherished so much, cradled in his arms, refusing to allow her feet to touch the ground, be a man? Undoubtedly, this was the esteemed Lord Ning, the enigmatic guest of Hidden Stream never seen before.
If Ning Xiaoxian knew her thoughts, it would surely be unfair. They had just finished bathing, considering she couldn’t walk on her own, her usual resting places were either the couch or the embrace of her beloved, why would Changtian take extra effort to put shoes on her? She was now furrowing her brows at Changtian, unable to voice her anger.
She had so much she wanted to say to this "Little Pavilion Master," who had designs on her man. Changtian lowered his gaze, appreciating her expression, and with a smile, pinched her cheek in a half-hearted attempt to console her.
"My wife isn’t well, so I’m taking her out to relax and will return shortly. You may continue to stroll leisurely." He stood up, slightly turned, nodded towards Yan Lingxue, exposing a flawless side profile, yet his tall figure shielded any prying gaze from the master and servant duo towards his embrace.
She was anxious and blurted out, "Lord Changtian, the Northwest Line is blocked this year, transportation is difficult, I’m afraid next year’s mineral allotment for Tianling Pavilion to Hidden Stream will have to be reduced..."
Changtian’s figure instantly halted.
Yan Lingxue called out, making him stop; she felt slightly proud: when it comes to military supplies crucial to Hidden Stream’s future battle dynamics, this man surely wouldn’t be indifferent.
Seizing the opportunity, she quickly said, "On the Northwest commercial route we frequently travel, two Immortal Sects have discovered Tianling Pavilion doing business with Hidden Stream. Next, they’ll surely send people to intercept. My brother’s idea is to develop new routes, which might require considerable effort..."
