Chapter 31 Adventurers Must Take Risks
Chapter 31 Adventurers Must Take Risks
Willis was incredibly lucky; as soon as he teleported to the sixth floor, he saw someone using rewards to capture enchanted souls.
He witnessed firsthand how an ordinary longsword, after being enchanted, could unleash a formidable sword aura without needing to infuse it with magic.
"This is practically a completely new alchemy system."
Willis remarked that it was not surprising that such things could only be found in the dungeons.
The dungeon is, after all, a realm that even the gods have failed to explore; all its rules are merely empirical formulas.
He stood there for a moment, then decided to make his move on an enchanted soul in the form of a sword.
Adventurers say that enchanted souls cannot be captured, but Willis has always had the spirit to verify the truth himself.
The loud magical runes attracted the attention of all the adventurers nearby, who looked at him with disbelief, waiting to see what would happen.
"How many people are refusing to believe in superstitions today?"
"The fourth one, two of the first three people shared the same feelings as the goblin captives."
Caesar was also drawn to this scene. Realizing it was an opportunity, he hastily created a death scene and inserted it into the enchanted soul that Willis had his eye on.
The story is about a succubus who was once brought out of the surface of the earth and returns to the dungeon as an adventurer, wanting to see her sisters. She then encounters an evil adventurer who mistakes her for a native succubus and rapes her before killing her.
The final scene freezes on the succubus turning into light and disappearing, while the evil adventurer looks up in astonishment, his face filled with disbelief.
……
The adventurers' whispers did not disturb Willis, who resolutely cast the binding spell.
The next second, the enchanted soul dissipated, and Willis collapsed to the ground.
Within seconds, Willis jolted awake, sprang to his feet, his hands trembling slightly beneath his hood as he gripped the sword hilt several times before letting go.
His eyes were filled with anger, and his cold gaze swept over the surrounding adventurers, trying to find those faces in the picture.
The result, of course, was nothing. Caesar had just sculpted it based on Eberstein's stuff; it would be a miracle if he could find it.
Willis then looked away and silently headed towards the teleportation point.
Upon entering the BOSS level, Willis obediently queued up. His low-pressure aura left a large empty space around him, and no one dared to approach.
As they were queuing, a commotion suddenly broke out at the front of the line.
Willis looked up and saw that a group of people were trying to cut in line.
Taking advantage of their superior level and large numbers, they suddenly decided to monopolize all ten rounds of the lottery.
"**It's those beasts again.**"
"For some reason, the Ston family stopped sending guards to maintain order in the card drawing process. These bastards specialize in grabbing the rounds with high odds of winning and then selling the winning cards for profit."
"****, I got robbed of my red reward last time."
The surrounding adventurers were indignant, and their words reached Willis's ears, who was filled with anger and had nowhere to vent it.
He exploded on the spot.
Willis drew his sword with a whoosh, bent his knees slightly, and sprang into the air in an instant.
Before the card-drawing thieves at the front of the group could react to what was happening, a magical landing point had already been generated beneath Willis's feet. He accelerated twice in the air, transforming into a streak of light and crashing into the middle of the thieves like a meteorite.
The other adventurers could only hear a deafening roar before a blood-red tornado erupted in front of the group, tearing the card-drawing thief's corpse apart like a tattered doll.
In the blink of an eye, more than a dozen card-drawing thieves were all beheaded, their corpses gradually turning into light and disappearing.
Willis leaped into the air, landing on the point where the magic landed, and calmly looked down at them, saying:
"Don't cut in line."
He then returned to his original position, pretending nothing had happened, and continued queuing.
"Wow, that's amazing."
"So handsome, bro, I admit you're a tiny bit more handsome than me."
"No, how come he's not even level 30?"
"I told you those beasts would get their comeuppance."
The adventurers reacted in various ways, but without exception, none dared to approach Willis, fearing that he might accidentally kill them as well.
The team advanced rapidly, with adventurers becoming Caesar's provisions in droves. In the end, Willis did not escape this fate either, turning into light and returning to the surface.
"breathe…"
At the resurrection point, Willis sensed the depletion of life force in his body. He slightly circulated his breathing technique, and the surrounding magic and life force surged into his body frantically, replenishing the depletion at a remarkable speed.
In just two hours, Willis's life force will be restored to its full potential.
He put on his black robe, walked out of the resurrection point, and prepared to go back to the dungeon to get his weapon. Suddenly, he caught a glimpse of a somewhat familiar figure out of the corner of his eye.
"Short?"
Willis turned his head and saw a head of dazzling blond hair and luxurious aristocratic attire.
Oria, he had seen the portrait of this second young lady at the Earl of Ston's house, and now she was walking with several elves.
"They must have mistaken him for someone else..."
Willis shook his head, ready to continue on his way, but stopped after taking a step.
Since he was going to rely on the Ston family to make a second contact with the succubus leader anyway, why not choose the naive and innocent Olya? He might not even have to reveal his identity as a hero to the entire Ston family.
With this thought in mind, Willis walked towards Olya.
"Quack! Boss, save me! Why is the hero walking towards me? Does he recognize me?!"
Olya panicked. She was still thinking about how to strike up a conversation when the other person came over first.
"Don't panic, stay calm, stay calm."
Caesar responded by dressing Oliya in a phoenix costume. He didn't want to bother finding a second one as useful as Oliya.
"Oliya, right?"
Willis pushed through the crowd and went straight to Olya. Undine reacted quickly and protectively shielded Olya behind her.
"Who are you? What do you want?"
"I want to make a deal with Miss Olya," Willis said. "I will tell you the details of the deal and my identity in the dungeon."
Undine laughed. She hadn't seen such outrageous preconditions for a deal in a long time, and it sounded like there was something seriously wrong with it.
She was about to refuse on Olya's behalf when the golden figure bent down and slipped under her arm, replying enthusiastically, "Sure!"
Undine "..."
"Undine, it's alright. He's only level 28, isn't he? You said being an adventurer is a fascinating profession full of risks and unknowns, right?"
"Isn't this the kind of risk that adventurers have to take?"
"What kind of adventurer are you if you don't take risks!?"
Oria's naive yet sincere words left Undine speechless. She suddenly regretted exaggerating her abilities when she told stories in the tavern.
What kind of adventurer doesn't take risks? How could he say such misleading things just to show off in front of others? Now he's shot himself in the foot.
"That's true... I'll bring my sisters and go into the dungeon with you." Undine glared fiercely at Willis:
"If you have any ulterior motives, I'll definitely shoot your head off!"
