Chapter 46 Newbies in Terraria have to be treated like royalty!
"You're another player?" Terra stared at Wendy, bright yellow smiley face bubbles popping up on her blocky cheeks. She bounced around excitedly, her rear end sticking out, waving a block of clay in her hand. "So there's someone like me! That's great!"
Stella: "Same kind?" She looked down at Wendy.
Wendy shook her head frantically like a puppy.
Terra thinks this character looks a bit like him.
They are all pixelated blocks.
Furthermore, the fact that he can't open the character's dialogue box means that this Wendy is not an NPC. If she's not an NPC and not an enemy, then she must be a player.
Tara's head bubbled with smiley faces, and she stuck out her buttocks while twitching and waving the iron sword in her hand.
"Are you a newbie or a pro? Your name is Wendy, right?" Terra crouched down, staring at Wendy's feet, which made Wendy take a few steps back. "Hi there, you can call me Terra, or you can call me by the name I used when I created my character, 111. You should be able to see that, right?"
Wendy noticed that the color of the square around Tara's mouth was constantly flashing and changing. She was completely bewildered by these inexplicable words and quickly pulled Stella in front of her.
She thought to herself, "The other person is clearly my benefactor, isn't this a bit impolite?"
Wendy peeked out from behind Stella and noticed that Mr. Terra's blocky body was ridiculously clean. Despite running around outside for so long, there wasn't a speck of dust on him.
Terra watched Wendy's performance without saying a word, wondering if she was a newbie.
Hey newbie!
These days, there aren't many newbies willing to come to Terraria to save the world!
"It's okay, don't be afraid. I'm not like the Lost Girl monster. I'm a player just like you. Oh, I forgot, you probably haven't seen that monster yet." Terra raised her arm and quickly ran to Wendy's side, circling around her and pressing her body against hers, gently pushing Wendy with her butt sticking out.
Wendy felt that Terra's body was very hard, and the edges and corners of each block were a bit prickly.
She subconsciously twitched her little nose and found that Terra didn't have any strange smell at all; to be more precise, Terra had absolutely no body odor.
"I didn't see you at the spawn point, that's strange." Another thought bubble appeared above Terra's head. "When you entered the world, did you see the base I built at the spawn point?"
Wendy shook her head in confusion, then mustered her courage and said, "I...I haven't been there, have I? I think..." She paused, "I...I don't remember a lot of things."
Terra's head popped out a thought bubble: "It seems you entered the world earlier than I did."
"So you created this world, right? What options did you choose when you created it? How come this world is so big? I'm very curious."
Create a world?
Wendy: "Isn't it only God who can create the world?" She didn't understand why Terra was suddenly asking such a question.
Terra's head bobbed with thought: "So, does that mean there's another player?"
But if an earlier player came in, why didn't that player build a house at the spawn point?
Terra: "How did you get into this world? I came through a portal after I finished all the progress. Did you do the same?"
Wendy: "Come into the world?"
Does it mean how you were born?
"I...I was born to my mother...right?"
……
Terra didn't reply, and Wendy blushed.
Terra: "Did you get anything good?"
Wendy still didn't quite understand, and could only shake her head: "I only have a few silver coins on me..."
"Then we're about on the same track! You're still a little behind me!" A smiley face bubble popped up above Terra's head.
Seeing how enthusiastic and familiar Tara was with Wendy, Stella asked Tara, "Do you know this child?"
Stella patted Wendy's head.
"I definitely don't know her!" Terra exclaimed in a question bubble. "I just realized she's a player like me."
Wendy asked in confusion, "Hey, don't you know my name? I thought you knew something about my past..."
"You really are a newbie. You don't even know how to read a name. Move your cursor over me."
Wendy: "What's a light, a cursor?"
Terra's head bobbed with a hint of melancholy. So this is the level of a newbie? A bit too new.
Then a smiley face bubble appeared above his head.
"The cursor is the small arrow you see in your field of vision; 'cursor' is a technical term."
Terra, assuming Wendy understood, continued, "Move that onto me. See the name at my feet?"
Wendy didn't see any small arrows in front of her. She looked down at Terra's feet again, but there was nothing there. She noticed that Terra's feet were also very clean, even though he must have walked a lot outside, but they weren't dirty at all.
Wendy then looked up and stared directly at Terra's face. After a few seconds of eye contact, she forced herself to say, "Oh, yes, I... I see. Um, your name is 111."
A smiley face appeared above Terra's head: "This is the nickname I used when I created my character, but you can just call me Terra."
Wendy said, "I know you. The first time you came, you killed that adventurer and got my money back. I remember you..."
I wanted to repay you later, but my savings weren't much.
Terra tried to recall what had happened, but couldn't seem to remember anyone who looked exactly like the person in front of her.
He probably didn't look carefully at the time, considering there were so many NPCs.
Terra is more concerned about something else now.
"Wendy, why is your model half pixelated and half high definition? Did it lag?"
"How did you manage to achieve high-definition textures? Mine are still pixelated."
"Did you use some kind of texture pack?"
Wendy watched as Terra's blocky head drew ever closer, and was taken aback by Terra's sudden barrage of questions, her hands flailing erratically in front of her chest.
"Oh... ah... that!"
Wendy's facial features began to become abstract, like melted clay.
"You have so many more expressions than me! I can't even make those; I can only send emoji bubbles manually!" Terra thought for a moment. "Is there a new option in the new version when creating a character? Teach me how to do it!"
Wendy thought to herself, "I don't understand. Create a character? Does 'create' mean when my parents gave birth to me?" She pondered.
She raised her hand and scratched her cheek, the mineralized parts of her body making a crackling sound.
She said that she has actually lost a lot of memories, and she doesn't remember what she did before. The earliest impression she can remember now is that she was lying on a grassy field.
Is that how it is? Terra thought to herself.
"Amnesia is great! I want amnesia too!" Terra's smiling bubble popped up again.
"Amnesia is no good! You don't even know who you are or what you're going to do in the future..." Wendy retorted softly.
"Of course! Erase the past and save the world anew with a fresh-faced mind!" Terra said, waving at Stella, "And while we're at it, save these NPCs—they're even charging to live in their houses!"
Wendy tilts her head?
Stella covered her face with her hands: "Don't say it..." She didn't want to recall the mortgage and the day Terra tormented her.
