Chapter 342: Another Fiancée?
Chapter 342: Another Fiancée?
The moment Mimi heard the female speaking rudely about Nina, she immediately planted her tiny hands on her hips.
"Who are you calling an outsider? You’re mean!"
Her little face was puffed up with indignation.
Their mother was absolutely not some wild outsider.
Maya’s eyes landed on Nina’s face, and jealousy rose uncontrollably within her.
How could this female be so beautiful?
No wonder Lord Setan had allowed her to stay in his private chambers.
Her fingertips curled tightly into her palms.
The moment she heard Setan had returned to Blaze City that morning, she had rushed over in excitement. Then she learned he had brought a female back with him.
She had refused to believe it. That was why she had come running to the manor before sunrise.
Yet the rumors had been true. Not only had he brought a female home, but she was breathtakingly beautiful.
Her gaze shifted to Mimi, surprise flashing across her face.
A mermaid female cub? And such a pretty one at that.
Then she looked over the other children surrounding Nina.
Why was this female carrying so many cubs?
When her gaze landed on Sunny, she frowned.
There was even a little Blaze Lion among them.
A ridiculous thought suddenly crossed her mind.
Could that cub belong to Lord Setan?
She immediately dismissed the idea.
Impossible.
Setan was known for his discipline and propriety. He never got close to females and devoted himself entirely to cultivation and city affairs.
There was no way he would have cubs with some unknown female.
Meanwhile, Nina frowned slightly.
So this was actually Setan’s room? That explained the luxurious furnishings.
The room’s decor had felt distinctly feminine. Earlier, she had simply assumed it was one of the manor’s finest guest suites.
More importantly, who was this female, and why was she questioning her?
"We’re Setan’s friends," Nina replied calmly. "We’re staying here for a few days as guests."
Then she looked directly at Maya.
"And who are you?"
Maya immediately lifted her chin.
"I’m Lord Setan’s fiancée." Her voice rang with confidence. "So you can move out of my future mate’s room right now."
Honestly, Setan had gone too far. How could he allow another female to stay in his private quarters?
He belonged to her.
Nina’s brows knitted together.
"Fiancée? You’re really his fiancée?"
If Setan truly had a fiancée, then continuing to stay here would indeed be inappropriate.
Just as she was about to speak, an anxious voice filled with irritation echoed from nearby.
"Maya, what nonsense are you talking about?"
Setan strode toward them at remarkable speed. Several packages were still hanging from his arms.
"Nina, don’t listen to her. She’s talking complete nonsense. I have absolutely no relationship with her."
Earlier that morning, he had noticed Nina was still asleep, so he had gone out to buy several famous local delicacies unique to Blaze City.
He had only been gone for a short while.
Yet somehow everything had exploded into chaos.
Maya was the daughter of one of his father’s closest friends. She was also close to his mother.
Because she had always harbored feelings for him, she frequently used her connections with his parents as an excuse to gain access to the City Lord Manor.
Most likely, she had done the same thing today.
Setan’s eyes darkened with anger. He had rejected her clearly countless times.
Yet she refused to give up. Now she was even boldly introducing herself as his fiancée.
"I’m not making anything up!" Maya protested. "Uncle Yian said he would marry you to me."
Her eyes swept toward Setan’s forehead. The tension in her chest eased slightly.
There was no mating mark. At least they had not become mates.
She had known it. Lord Setan was too self-disciplined to casually find a female outside the city.
"That was my father’s decision, not mine."
Setan’s expression hardened. "And I will never agree to it."
His voice carried unmistakable authority.
"My father has no right to decide my marriage."
When he was young, an engagement had nearly been arranged without his knowledge. There was no chance he would allow anyone to interfere in his future again. Other than Nina, he would never choose another female.
"Why not?" Maya’s voice rose sharply. "I’m a Sacred Female. What makes me inferior to this wild female?"
She pointed at Nina.
"Do you know how many males have proposed to me? I rejected every single one because I was waiting for you."
"That’s your choice." Setan’s tone was icy. "I already made myself clear long ago. I will never become your mate."
Then his gaze sharpened dangerously.
"And Nina is not some wild female. If you insult her again, I won’t show mercy, even if you’re a female."
Maya’s face twisted with resentment.
"She’s only prettier than me. What else does she have? I’m a noble Sacred Female."
Her eyes burned with unwillingness.
"Besides, she already has so many mates. Didn’t you always say your future female should only have you? If you choose me, I can promise you’ll be my only mate."
She could not understand it. Why was Setan defending this female so fiercely?
"She surpasses you in every way."
The moment Setan turned toward Nina, all the coldness vanished from his eyes.
Warmth flooded his gaze. Affection filled every inch of it.
"If it’s Nina, I don’t care how many mates she has."
His voice softened. "There is no female I would marry except her."
In his heart, Nina was incomparable. No female in the world could stand beside her. For her, he was willing to abandon every principle he once held.
Long ago, he had dreamed of having her to himself. Now he no longer dared hope for that. If she would simply spare him a few more glances, that alone would make him happy.
Even if he had no title, no status, and no place among her mates, he would still willingly remain by her side.
The sincerity in his eyes caught Nina off guard. Heat crept across her cheeks.
She quickly looked away.
Around them, her mates silently sneered.
They, however, very much minded the possibility of adding one more troublesome lion to the family.
Who had asked him to confess his feelings in front of them? Did he think they were invisible?
Maya bit her lip so hard it nearly bled.
She had already compromised this much. Why was it still not enough?
Setan turned back toward her.
The warmth vanished instantly. His expression became cold and unforgiving.
"Leave immediately." His voice was sharp enough to cut. "Stop bothering Nina. From this day forward, you’re no longer welcome in the City Lord Manor. If you return again, don’t blame me for what happens."
Maya glared at him furiously.
"Just wait." She stamped her foot. "I’ll make you marry me eventually."
As long as he had not officially formed a mating bond, she refused to give up.
With one final resentful glare, she spun around and stormed out of the manor.
The female who had accompanied her hurried after her.
Silence settled over the courtyard.
Nina felt a little awkward. She had only arrived yesterday, yet somehow she had already become involved in this kind of situation.
Setan stepped forward apologetically.
"Nina, I’m sorry." His voice was full of guilt. "I never meant for anyone to disturb you."
He handed her the packages he had been carrying.
"These are specialties unique to Blaze City. You can’t find them anywhere else."
His expression softened. "Would you like to try them?"
Nina accepted the food but hesitated.
"Setan... maybe I should move somewhere else."
Panic flashed across his face. "Nina, please." His voice became anxious.
"This was my mistake. I never intentionally let her in. I truly have nothing to do with her. I promise this won’t happen again."
His eyes were filled with anxiety.
"Please don’t move out."
He blamed himself completely.
If he had been more careful, Maya would never have been able to enter the manor and disturb Nina in the first place.
