Chapter 24 recording interrupted
Chapter 24 recording interrupted
Kang Young-tae stood next to the VJ, watching Seo Hyun, who had just returned from buying snacks, and Narsha, who had regained her energy after a short rest, in front of the camera.
Seohyun opened the box, revealing red bean rice cakes and mugwort cakes inside. Narsha came over, took a piece, and after taking a bite, her eyes lit up. She then stuffed the rest into her mouth.
"Delicious! We must take this back for Do-ryeon and Mi-yeon to try."
Seohyun smiled and nodded, pushing the cardboard box over. "Okay, then unnie's treating~"
"Sigh, forget it then. Those two are having a much better time at the market than I am, grilling lobsters and eating black pork..."
Narsha sighed helplessly, slumped back into his chair, and stared blankly out the window.
Seohyun didn't say anything more. She picked up a cushion and put it behind her back, took a sip of coffee, and enjoyed this short break.
Her expression and movements were very natural, but Jiang Yongtai could still sense something different in the air. He frowned slightly, deep in thought.
After sitting for another ten minutes or so, the sky outside darkened again during their break.
Narsha turned to look out the window, his brow furrowing.
"Everything was fine just now, how could it change so suddenly?"
Xu Xian followed her gaze, then pulled the cushion out from behind her back and put it back in its original position.
"We'd better hurry, it looks like it's going to rain."
The two stood up, paid at the counter, and walked out, followed by the crew.
Narsha looked up at the sky and was about to push the bicycle leaning against the door when Jiang Yongtai interrupted her.
"Take a break."
He gestured to the VJ, who looked at him with a puzzled expression and lowered the camera from his shoulder.
Narsha, holding onto the handlebars, turned to look at him. "PD-nim, what's wrong?"
Seohyun stopped what she was doing, and Kang Young-tae walked up to her amidst the puzzled looks of the crowd.
"Seohyun-ssi, can you still keep going? If you can't, we can switch to a car for the rest of the filming."
Narsha paused for a moment, then put her hands on her hips and raised her eyebrows at Jiang Yongtai.
"PD-nim! Why do I look like I'm the most tired one? Why aren't you asking me, instead of Joohyun?!"
Xu Xian was also taken aback. Why did he suddenly ask that?
She subconsciously looked at her agent standing next to the production crew, and the agent nodded slightly at her.
Xu Xian understood the situation, turned her gaze away, and smiled at Jiang Yongtai.
"Thank you for your concern, PD. But I think I can still continue."
"Xu Xianxi, don't force yourself." Jiang Yongtai didn't continue the conversation.
"We've already ridden this far, so we have about enough cycling footage for filming."
Narsha, who was nearby, thought that Jiang Yongtai felt the scenes of cycling along the way were too repetitive and was offering them a way to change their plans.
She breathed a sigh of relief and immediately chimed in, "Hyun, since PD-nim said so, let's not ride anymore, we can just take the bus."
After saying that, he gently nudged Xu Xian's arm with his elbow.
Seohyun frowned slightly, ignoring Narsha, and looked at Kang Youngtae.
"PD, we already stated the purpose of our ride at the beginning. If we suddenly start riding in a car now, the audience will question it."
She paused, then turned to Narsha and added a sentence.
"There's really not much road left, and Unnie doesn't want to give up halfway, right?"
"……I."
Narsha opened her mouth, but the words "give up halfway" blocked her way out.
Looking at Seohyun's serious expression, she swallowed back the complaint that was on the tip of her tongue.
"Joo-hyun".
Seohyun's manager walked over quickly, his voice low, so that only a few people nearby could hear him.
"Listen to the PD, you still have a TV series to film after this shoot..."
"Oppa!"
Seohyun interrupted her manager, turning to look at him and shaking her head slightly.
He opened his mouth, but didn't finish what he was saying.
"Xu Xianxi, are you sure?" Kang Young-tae asked, looking into her eyes.
Seohyun met his gaze and nodded seriously.
"I'm sure, PD."
Jiang Yongtai looked at her for a moment, sensing her seriousness and persistence, and nodded slightly.
"Okay, if you feel like you can't go on, then stop."
Seohyun nodded and smiled, "Okay, thank you for your concern, PD-nim."
Jiang Yongtai turned around and returned to the production crew's position, nodding to the VJ to signal that filming should resume.
Kim Sung-woo immediately leaned closer and asked in a low voice, "Hyung, is there something wrong with Seo Hyun-ssi's health?"
Jiang Yongtai nodded. "Yes, keep a close eye on her later. If there are any problems, stop immediately."
Upon hearing this, Kim Sung-woo's expression turned serious.
Seohyun and Narsha got back on their bikes and headed towards Hyeopjae Beach along the coastal road.
In the car following the camera, Kim Sung-woo sat in the passenger seat, keeping a close eye on Seo Hyun outside the window, ready to inform Kang Young-tae immediately if anything happened.
After rounding a bend, a temporary path paved with gravel appeared on the outside of the highway, probably left over from municipal construction.
Seohyun's road bike ran over a rock buried in the sand, and the front wheel suddenly swerved to the right, causing the bike to shake violently and Seohyun to veer to one side along with the handlebars.
"Be careful!"
Narsha called out behind her.
Fortunately, Seohyun regained her composure and turned back to smile at Narsha.
"It's okay, unnie, you be careful too..."
Before she could finish speaking, the smile on her face suddenly vanished, she gripped the brakes tightly with both hands, bent over, and pressed one hand firmly against her back.
The two cars following her braked at the same time. Jiang Yongtai jumped out of the car, his brows already furrowed, and walked quickly toward her.
In the other car, Seohyun's manager also got out and ran over, his face darker than the clouds pressing down in the sky.
Narsha had already parked the car before them and walked to Seohyun's side, bending down to look at her face.
"Hyun, what's wrong?!"
Xu Xian raised her head, her face drained of color, beads of sweat forming on her forehead. She forced a smile, but her lips trembled slightly.
"It's nothing, unnie... my back is a little sore."
Narsha looked at her pale face; this didn't look like she was "a little unwell" at all.
Kang Young-tae walked up to Seohyun and stopped beside her. "Seohyun-ssi, are you alright?"
Seohyun turned her head to look at him, her lips moved, but before she could say anything, her manager, who had run over, spoke anxiously.
"PD-nim, we need to go to the hospital!"
Looking at Xu Xian's face and the hand she was pressing tightly against her lower back, Jiang Yongtai's heart sank. The ominous signs from before had come true...
He nodded and made a decision immediately.
"Narsha-ssi, could you please help Seohyun to the car? I'm going to make a phone call."
Narsha nodded, quickly put his arm around Seohyun's shoulder, and, along with her manager, helped her walk towards the car.
Jiang Yongtai took out his phone and dialed Sun Changyu's number.
There was a lot of background noise on Sun Changyu's end. "Yongtai, what's wrong?"
"Changwoo, there's been a problem with Seohyun."
Jiang Yongtai cut straight to the point without any preamble.
"Her agent said she has an old back injury, which must have flared up while she was cycling just now. She looks very unwell, so filming was interrupted."
"What?! Wait a minute!"
Sun Changyu on the other end of the phone exclaimed in surprise, and after a while, the background noise subsided.
"Yongtai, is the situation serious?"
"It's not certain yet; we'll have to go to the hospital for a checkup to find out."
Jiang Yongtai paused for a moment, then shared his thoughts.
"My suggestion is this: I'll take Seohyun and her manager to the hospital for a checkup now."
The filming schedule here has to be terminated. I'll have Cheng Yu take the remaining people to take her to join you, and the two teams will be combined into one for filming.
Jang Do-yeon, Cho Mi-yeon, and Narsha completed the remaining procedures for the day together.
Sun Changyu fell silent.
Jiang Yongtai knew that he, as the main PD, was considering it and did not urge him.
His plan wasn't perfect. The main structure for today's shoot was with two teams, but now that they've suddenly merged, it means that all the task lines and game segments designed for the two teams have to be adjusted temporarily.
But reality is what it is, and there is no better choice...
"Okay, let's do it this way!"
Sun Changyu's voice quickly broke the silence.
"You accompany Xu Xian to the hospital and report to me immediately. If it is confirmed that she cannot continue filming, we need to come up with a plan for tomorrow right away!"
Soobin also needs to write out the script for the team merger and give it to Jang Do-yeon to explain Seohyun's sudden situation to the audience.
The remaining filming can't be delayed; we're in a rush for these two episodes!
"clear."
"Yongtai," Sun Changyu called him again.
"Remember to call me immediately if anything happens at the hospital. And if Seohyun's agency needs the production team's involvement, I'll make the call!"
"Okay, bro."
Jiang Yongtai hung up the phone, put it in his pocket, and turned to walk back to his car.
The car door was open, and Seohyun leaned back in the seat with two cushions behind her back, her eyes closed, the sweat on her forehead already dried.
Narsha sat next to her, one hand on her leg, his expression equally grim, but he still whispered words of comfort.
The agent, standing outside the car, saw Jiang Yongtai approaching and quickly asked:
"PD-nim! How about it, can we go to the hospital now?"
Jiang Yongtai stopped at the car door and explained the plan to the group of people.
After saying that, he turned around and called out to Kim Sung-woo, who was also waiting anxiously beside him.
"Cheng Yu!"
Kim Sung-woo immediately ran over, and Kang Young-tae took the walkie-talkie from his waist and handed it to him.
"Take the rest of the people and Narsha to Changwoo's place. If one car isn't enough, the extra people can stay here and take a taxi. I need to drive one car to take Seohyun to the hospital."
Kim Sung-woo pursed his lips, gripped the walkie-talkie in his hand, nodded, and turned to make arrangements.
Seohyun opened her eyes, turned her head to look at Narsha, and forced a smile.
"Unnie, I'm sorry... We were supposed to ride to the finish line together."
Narsha frowned, raised his hand to pat her leg but was afraid of hurting her, so he just pressed it lightly twice.
"What are you apologizing for? What's there to apologize for! You idiot, why didn't you say you weren't feeling well earlier? The PD noticed you were feeling unwell, but you still tried to act tough!"
Narsha now understands why Kang Young-tae suddenly asked Seo Hyun if she wanted to continue.
So they already knew about her health condition! Then why did they let her have her way? They could have just stopped!
When Seohyun says something capricious, shouldn't the PD be the one responsible for saying "no"?!
Kang Young-tae pursed his lips. Narsha seemed to be talking about Seohyun, but she was actually complaining about the production team and about him...
However, knowing he was in the wrong, he had no choice but to apologize.
"I'm sorry, Narsha-ssi, Seohyun-ssi, this situation is all my fault."
Seohyun held Narsha's hand, smiled shyly at Kang Youngtae, then looked at Narsha and softened her voice to act coquettishly.
"Unnie~ It was my own insistence, you can't blame PD-nim entirely."
Narsha rolled her eyes at Seohyun's ingratiating face.
I was clearly speaking up for her, and now I'm the bad guy?!
However, all she could do was sigh.
"You're still the same as before, you never listen to anything your unnie says!"
Seohyun smiled at her and shook her hand.
Narsha turned to look at Jiang Yongtai, paused for a moment, and then said calmly.
"I'm sorry, PD-nim, I was a little flustered just now."
She paused for a moment, then said, "But can I go to the hospital with Seohyun? There's enough training there, right?"
Before Jiang Yongtai could speak, Xu Xian had already refused.
"Unnie, why are you coming with me?!"
She released Narsha's hand, her tone becoming serious.
"The show still needs to be filmed. Now that I'm gone, if you disappear too, it will cause a lot of trouble for the production team!"
We are entertainers!
"Didn't PD-nim say he'd come with me? And my manager oppa's there too. I just have a back injury; I'll just go get it checked out."
Narsha frowned, wanting to refute, but knew that Seohyun was right.
Today is only the first day of the show, and one of the four people is already missing. If she leaves, the filming really can't continue.
She's a celebrity, so she has to follow the production team's arrangements...
She was silent for a few seconds, then finally gripped Seohyun's hand tightly.
"I'm the oldest among you, so call me right away if anything happens!"
Seohyun smiled and nodded at her, "Okay, unnie~"
He then turned to Jiang Yongtai, revealing his apology.
"I'm sorry for causing you trouble, PD-nim. I should have listened to you at the coffee shop entrance..."
Jiang Yongtai shook his head, once again taking the blame upon himself.
Hearing this, the agent knew the conversation was about to end, so he opened the driver's side door and got in.
Narsha released Seohyun's hand, stepped out of the back seat, paused as she passed Kang Youngtae, and whispered:
"PD-nim, thank you for your hard work. Please take good care of her for me."
"I will, Narsha xi."
Jiang Yongtai nodded seriously to her, then turned and got into the passenger seat.
After Jiang Yongtai fastened his seatbelt, his manager stepped on the gas and drove towards Halla Hospital in Jeju City.
……
The navigation showed that it would take about half an hour to get to Halla Hospital from where we just left.
Jiang Yongtai glanced at the back seat through the rearview mirror. Xu Xian's eyes were closed, and her brows were slightly furrowed.
He thought for a moment, then spoke up, "Seohyun-ssi, how are you doing?"
Seohyun opened her eyes, her voice tinged with apology.
"Fortunately, it's an old problem, and the intense filming of the TV series recently has caused it to flare up."
I'm so sorry, PD, I shouldn't have planned this topic.
Jiang Yongtai didn't reply, but smiled bitterly to himself. From his perspective, this was indeed a difficult question to answer.
Xu Xianming knew he was injured, yet he still made the plan to cycle such a long distance. With the accident, the entire production team was caught off guard.
To put it bluntly, this is a rather willful approach.
But what about himself?
I learned about this from her agent and noticed that she had health problems at the coffee shop, but I still let her continue riding.
He can't escape this responsibility either; now it's a lose-lose situation.
Seeing that he didn't speak, Xu Xian curled the corners of her lips, trying to ease the tense atmosphere in the car.
"I hope PD isn't cursing me in his heart?"
Jiang Yongtai was taken aback for a moment, then realized she was joking and went along with her.
"I'm relieved that Seohyun-ssi is still in the mood to joke."
Seohyun chuckled softly again, "What a pity, I still really wanted to ride to my destination~"
"Joo-hyun!"
The manager's voice came from the driver's seat, a little more forceful, but mostly expressing helplessness towards their artist.
"Oppa, this was just an accident," Seohyun said calmly, cutting him off.
"I know what I'm doing, Oppa, please drive carefully, my back is hurting again."
The agent's lips moved slightly, but in the end, he said nothing. His grip on the steering wheel tightened, and the car accelerated slightly.
Jiang Yongtai raised an eyebrow, looked away from the rearview mirror, and noticed the subtle tension between the two of them.
Seohyun is blaming her manager for revealing her injury...
The car fell silent again, and no one spoke.
