Her fair neck was exposed to the air.
There are several clear, fresh, and not yet completely faded light red marks on it.
Kobok's eyes turned crimson the moment he saw clearly.
He stared intently at the marks, as if someone had stabbed him in the heart.
The cane slipped from his hand again and crashed onto the floor tiles with a loud thud, but he was completely unaware.
"Master, I..."
The woman opened her mouth, wanting to explain something, but all her excuses seemed pale and powerless in the face of irrefutable evidence.
Kobok did not speak.
He just stood there, like a volcano about to erupt, his whole body trembling violently.
*Smack!*
A crisp, clear slap echoed through the closed room.
Kobok used all his strength in that slap, and the woman staggered several steps to the side, half of her face instantly swelling up and a trace of blood seeping from the corner of her mouth.
She covered her face and let out a sharp scream as she crashed into a nearby cabinet, causing the vase on it to wobble and fall to the ground, shattering into pieces.
"You bitch!!!"
Kobok's roar nearly lifted the roof off.
"How dare you stand in front of me?! How dare you wear the pendant I gave you while cheating on me?! How dare you?!"
As he spoke, he grabbed the two crescent-shaped pendants from the table and smashed them over the woman's head.
The pendant struck the woman, then bounced to the ground with a crisp clanging sound.
When the woman looked down and saw the two pendants, she was struck dumb and collapsed to the ground.
"This...this is..." Her voice had completely changed, filled with fear and despair.
"You recognized me?" Kobok leaned on the edge of the table, panting heavily, each word seeming to have used up all his strength.
"You slut! You shameless whore!!"
"No...it's not like that..." The woman shook her head, tears mixed with blood streaming down her cheeks. She tried to explain, but even she knew that any explanation would be futile.
"Not like that? Then what is it?!" Kobok grabbed the teacup on the table and smashed it on the floor, shards flying everywhere.
"Do you think I'm blind?! Do you think I can't see those...those..." marks on your neck?
He couldn't continue; his chest heaved violently, and a whimpering sound came from his throat as if something was blocking it.
The woman knelt on the ground, covering her face, her whole body trembling uncontrollably.
She knew it was all over.
More than twenty years of marital affection, the status of the matriarch of the Fesari clan, the privileged life, all the dignity and respectability vanished at this moment.
But in the midst of that silence, she suddenly stopped trembling.
Then, she slowly lowered her hands from her face and looked up.
On that swollen, red face, the fear and panic were rapidly fading, replaced by a strange, almost frantic calm.
"Yes," she said, her voice hoarse but unusually clear, "you're right, I did go out and cheat on you."
Kobok was stunned.
He hadn't expected that the woman he'd caught red-handed would confess so readily.
“I not only stole,” the woman slowly stood up, staring directly at Kobock, and said, enunciating each word clearly, “but not just one.”
"you!!"
"Frank, Dali, and..." the woman sneered, "Guess?"
Kobok felt as if he had been punched hard in the chest; he staggered backward, bumped into the edge of the table, and almost fell over again.
"You...you..." His lips trembled violently, but he couldn't utter a complete sentence.
"What about me?" The woman wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth, her eyes flashing with an almost crazed light.
"Kobok, put your hand on your heart and tell me, what have you given me all these years?"
"What have I given you?!" Kobok roared furiously.
"The status of the matriarch of the Fesalie clan! A life of luxury! What do you want that I haven't given you?! You!"
"Status?" the woman interrupted him, letting out a sharp, cold laugh.
"What kind of status? A status that's all talk and no action, a status that's been held by someone who's been alone for twenty years?"
These words were like a knife, precisely stabbing into Kobock's most vulnerable spot.
His face instantly turned a deep liver color.
Xin Lai sat to the side, her hand holding the teacup paused slightly, her eyes twitched slightly, but she didn't say anything.
"Living in luxury?" the woman continued, her voice rising higher and higher, becoming increasingly shrill.
"What use is fine clothes and sumptuous food to me? What I need is a man! A man who can make me feel like I'm still a woman! Not a..."
"Shut up!!!" Kobok roared, his voice hoarse and almost cracking.
"Not just one," the woman said, emphasizing each word as if she hadn't heard.
"A piece of trash who can't even last three minutes in bed."
The room was deathly silent.
Kobok's face went from liver-colored to deathly pale, and then from deathly pale to ashen.
His lips trembled violently, his hands gripped the edge of the table tightly, his knuckles turned white, and he seemed to have all his strength drained away, leaving only an empty shell standing there.
Xinlai silently placed the teacup back on the table, her gaze sweeping between the two of them without saying a word.
At times like these, any words are superfluous.
"You..." Kobok finally found his voice, but it was so hoarse it was almost inaudible, "You actually... dare to..."
"Why wouldn't I dare?"
The woman sneered, "Now that things have come to this, what do I have to be afraid of? Hit me if you want, kill me if you want, I've had enough! I've had enough of pretending to be loving in front of others every day, I've had enough of forcing a smile in front of those wealthy ladies, I've had enough of you—"
She took a deep breath, as if to unleash all the resentment she had harbored for over twenty years:
"You incompetent, hypocritical old man who only knows how to use his power to bully others!"
*Smack!*
Another slap in the face.
This time it was even more brutal than the last; the woman's mouth split open, and blood dripped down her chin onto the floor tiles.
Instead of backing down, she raised her head and stared intently at Kobock with an almost defiant look.
"Hit me," she hissed, "hit me again! Even after you're done, you'll still be a piece of trash."
Kobok's hand hung in mid-air, trembling violently, but it could no longer fall.
Because he knew she was telling the truth.
For twenty years, he had never satisfied his wife in bed.
This was his deepest secret, his most painful scar, and his most unbearable shame. He thought he could make up for all of this with fine clothes and food, with his status as the mistress of the house, and with endless indulgence and acquiescence.
But it turned out that he was wrong.
That's completely wrong.
"I..." Kobok's voice choked, his eyes reddened, and an expression of near collapse appeared on his old face.
"Am I not good enough to you...?"
"Okay?" The woman covered her swollen face, tears welling up in her eyes.
"You're good to me? Do you know what I want? I don't want jewelry, clothes, or status. I want a man! A real man! If you can't give me that, I'll find someone else. What's wrong with that?!"
"You still have the nerve to talk?!" Kobock slammed his fist on the table. "You cheated on me with someone else, and you still have the nerve to talk?!"
"Then what do you want me to do?!" the woman practically screamed. "Live a life of widowhood?! Do you think I'm one of those nuns?! I'm a woman too! I also have…"
"Enough!!" Kobock interrupted her furiously. "I don't want to hear this! You shameless slut!"
"I'm shameless?" the woman laughed shrilly, pointing at Kobock's nose.
"You're the shameless one! You're incapable, yet you want to cling to me for life. You're the truly shameless one!"
Kobok was so speechless that his face turned red, and his chest heaved violently, like an old cat whose tail had been stepped on.
