Chapter 1132: I Don’t Think Uncle Sutton Is a Bad Person
Janelle Tollman looked at her son and felt he resembled that man more and more. She could sense that Arthur Sutton held the past she wanted to know.
She wanted to explore, but feared learning something unpleasant that might disrupt the current stability of their mother-son life.
If Arthur Sutton truly was the child’s father, surely he would come looking for her, right?
But in the following days, Arthur Sutton didn’t show up again.
After busy days, seeing the empty seat where Arthur Sutton used to sit was somewhat unsettling.
Seeing Noah sitting alone at a corner table fiddling with something, Janelle Tollman walked over quietly.
Looking at a table full of doll clothes and the Barbie doll in Noah’s hands that she hadn’t seen before, Janelle Tollman sat on the chair next to him, asking, "Did Uncle Archer buy you a new doll again?"
"No." Noah immediately shook his head and corrected, "It was Uncle Sutton who bought it."
Janelle Tollman was stunned, looked up at the store door and asked, "Did Uncle Sutton just come by?"
Noah shook his head again and explained, "Uncle Sutton went abroad on a business trip, he sent this back to me."
Noah’s words suddenly dawned on Janelle Tollman, no wonder she hadn’t seen Arthur Sutton for days, he had gone on a business trip.
But...
"How do you know Uncle Sutton is on a business trip?"
Noah smiled and pointed to the phone watch on his wrist, "Uncle Sutton called and told me."
Seeing the close relationship between Noah and Arthur Sutton, Janelle Tollman felt a subtle worry.
Suddenly she was afraid of one thing.
If Arthur Sutton truly is the child’s father, yet after appearing, he doesn’t have much interaction with her, instead always trying to approach the child.
Could his aim be to take the child away from her?
The thought sent a chill down Janelle Tollman’s spine, and seeing Noah holding the toy from Arthur Sutton with great fondness, she couldn’t help but caution, "From now on, don’t randomly ask people for toys. If you want something, tell mom and mom will buy it for you."
Noah mumbled, "Uncle Sutton bought it for me himself, I didn’t ask him for it."
Janelle Tollman said, "Then in the future, play less with Uncle Sutton, and don’t take his calls anymore."
Noah asked, "Why?"
Janelle Tollman said, "What if he is a fraud?"
Noah said, "Isn’t he mom’s friend? He won’t be a fraud."
Janelle Tollman said, "He is just a customer at mom’s store, mom doesn’t even know if he’s good or bad. What if one day he tricks you away with toys and sells you, then you’ll never see mom again."
Scared, Noah came down from the chair and huddled next to Janelle Tollman, tightly clutching her clothes, "I don’t want to be sold."
Janelle Tollman gently patted her head in reassurance, "Then listen to mom."
Noah obediently nodded, but after a while, she looked up at Janelle Tollman and said, "But I don’t think Uncle Sutton seems like a bad person."
"Bad people won’t tell you they’re bad. They’re good at pretending. For example, they first buy you many toys to gain your trust, then they’ll trick you and sell you."
Noah was successfully frightened, holding Janelle Tollman’s clothes tightly and not daring to let go.
Janelle Tollman turned to Dominic Tollman who was reading on the sofa behind and said, "Chase, did you hear that? You love to run off and play by yourself the most."
Dominic Tollman mumbled indifferently, "I’m not as silly as my sister, I won’t be tricked."
Janelle Tollman also knew that Dominic Tollman wasn’t as easy to fool as Anna, Arthur Sutton seemed to have noticed this too, so chose to start with Noah; compared to Chase, he didn’t interact with him much.
