Chapter 1122: Fortunately, You’re Back Now
Half a month later, Stella Charlie returned to the country with Vincent Warner.Their stop was an apartment where they once lived together.
The furnishings inside were almost exactly as she had left them, giving her the illusion of traveling through time and being pulled back to that period.
Actually, beyond the imperfect ending, that time was special to her.
Vincent’s presence made her feel like she hadn’t been abandoned by the world.
"I didn’t expect you still kept this." Standing by the door, Stella looked around the room, feeling a mix of emotions.
Vincent gently embraced her and said, "I told you this is your home. No matter when you come back, you’ll always have a place to stay."
Looking at the house filled with the essence of life, Stella couldn’t help but ask, "Have you been staying here since I left?"
"Whenever I missed you, I’d come here, but I’d also be afraid to come, knowing in my heart you weren’t here and wouldn’t come back. But only here could I find traces of your existence."
Stella sighed softly, able to feel the sadness of reminiscing.
"Luckily, now you’re back." Vincent slowly turned her around and gently kissed her.
Stella’s body stumbled against the cabinet behind her, and then they clung to each other, falling onto the living room sofa.
Clothes were scattered along the way.
...
A month later.
The spring sunlight was gentle, and as usual, Vincent sent Stella to the company before attending to his own affairs.
This month back home, Stella felt little difference from being in Serephina.
The daily work content was the same, and the working hours hadn’t changed much.
She hadn’t met Vincent’s mom again, but she had an inkling that Vincent had told her they were back.
She felt that even if Mom Warner still didn’t like her, at least she hadn’t privately pressured her to leave or secretly picked on her; and that was enough.
When she and Vincent married, she hadn’t planned on necessarily winning over his mom; being peacefully undisturbed like now was quite all right.
At noon, Vincent arrived at the company early to wait for her to finish work before they headed to the restaurant together.
In the car, Stella felt Vincent was preoccupied, so once they reached the restaurant, she proactively asked him, "Is there something you need to tell me? Is it hard to talk to me about it?"
Vincent chuckled, "Seems like nothing escapes my wife’s keen eye."
Every time Vincent called her "wife," Stella still felt slightly embarrassed, but she was slowly getting used to it.
She teasingly glared at him, "Stop it."
Vincent chuckled, saying, "It’s my mom’s birthday today. She wants me to bring you home for dinner tonight."
Stella was stunned, and Vincent quickly added, "If you don’t want to go, I can tell her. There’s no need to feel pressured."
"I’m just a bit surprised. Did she really invite me with you?"
Vincent smiled, "You’re my wife, her daughter-in-law—who else would she invite?"
Stella didn’t respond immediately. She was still a bit worried that Mom Warner might have some way to publicly embarrass her, which is why she invited her to come along.
As if noticing Stella’s concern, Vincent reached across the table, grasping Stella’s hand resting on the table, and reassured her, "Don’t worry, no matter what happens, I’ll always stand by your side. If you feel unhappy, I’ll take you away anytime."
