Chapter 1338 - 1333: You Can’t Leave With Her!
"Nicholas! I’m telling you, we have to send that lunatic away today!" Julia Zabinski shouted as soon as she walked into the bedroom, taking Nicholas Croft by surprise, causing him to visibly flinch.Instinctively, he covered Sophie Foster’s ears and turned to his mother, saying helplessly, "Mom, could you please lower your voice? She just fell asleep; don’t wake her up."
"Wake her up? I’d love to wake her up!" Julia raised her voice even more, "You’re still protecting a lunatic like this. If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes today, I wouldn’t have known this is how you treat Hannah!"
Nicholas was helpless, truly unsure what kind of poison Hannah Hargrave had poured into his mother’s ears. As he was about to say something, Sophie Foster suddenly awoke with a jolt, and after a moment of confusion, she shook off Nicholas Croft’s hands and sat up, staring coldly at Julia.
"Uncle, let’s go back to our own home. I don’t want to see these irrelevant people!"
"Baby?" Nicholas, surprised, turned his head, "You..."
Meeting Sophie’s clear eyes, he knew that she had returned to normal.
"Uncle, let’s go home." Sophie said firmly, pulling at Nicholas’s sleeve. He glanced at his mother again and nodded, "Okay, let’s go."
"You can’t leave! Nicholas, where are you going?" Seeing her son about to be taken away by the other woman, Julia hurried to the door, glaring with wide eyes and spreading her arms.
Nicholas helped Sophie off the bed, went to the closet to get her coat, and draped it over her. Seeing her son completely ignoring her, Julia, furious, rushed back in and swung her hand at Sophie.
"You vixen, homewrecker, see if I don’t beat you to death!"
"Mom! What are you doing!" Nicholas grabbed his mother’s wrist with one hand and pulled Sophie behind him with the other.
"What am I doing? I’m doing this for your own good! You’re willing to give up your family for a lunatic, and you don’t like Hannah, who’s such a good wife? Tell me! What do you see in this lunatic!" Julia shouted at the top of her lungs.
As the mother and son faced off, Sophie stepped to Nicholas’s side, looked at Julia with a cold smile, and retorted, "Good wife? If you knew that your so-called good wife caused the death of your unborn granddaughter, would you still be so protective of her?"
"Madwoman! Stop spouting nonsense!" Julia clearly didn’t believe Sophie’s words, "I won’t be fooled!"
"Hopeless!" Sophie snorted coldly, taking Nicholas’s wrist, "Uncle, let’s go!"
"No, you can’t leave," Julia once again blocked their path with her arms wide open, "You can go yourself, but don’t take my son..."
Sophie didn’t argue with Julia any further, she lifted her head to look at Nicholas, her eyes conveying a clear message. Nicholas withdrew the hand Sophie held, and in her surprised and hurt gaze, he wrapped his arm around her waist, responding to her with his actions.
In their exchange of glances, a slight curve appeared on Nicholas’s lips, then he turned to his mother standing in their way and said, "Mom, don’t force me."
With that, he slid his long arm around Julia, guiding Sophie toward the bedroom door.
"You bastard, come back here... Hannah, stop them quickly..." Julia yelled angrily in the bedroom. Hannah Hargrave, who had been eavesdropping outside, immediately came out upon hearing her mother-in-law’s shout, blocking the doorway with resolve.
"You can’t leave with her!"
