Chapter 1284 - 1279: Both My Body and Heart Belong Only to You
Evander Lancaster drove to Sophia Hamilton’s house, once again carrying large bags of supplements. He had a bag full of oatmeal walnut powder and bird’s nest. Originally, Juliana Lancaster didn’t want to open the door for him, but seeing that he refused to leave and worried he might disturb the neighbors, she finally did.
As soon as he entered, Evander anxiously asked, "Auntie, what’s wrong with Sophia? Does she need to go to the hospital?"
Whether it was because he hurried or was nervous, his face was almost devoid of color.
Juliana was utterly confused. She was in the kitchen preparing dinner, and her daughter was in her room snacking.
Even though she didn’t know what was going on, she still replied with a cold face, "Thanks for your concern, but I’m a doctor myself, so I can handle a minor illness."
Hearing Juliana’s words, Evander became even more worried. He shoved the bags into her hand, hurriedly took off his shoes, and barefoot, he headed toward Sophia’s bedroom.
"What’s gotten into him?"
Juliana held several plastic bags, and two fell onto the tiles. She turned around, looking at the anxious figure of Evander, frowning in confusion. After mumbling to herself, she shut the door and walked into the living room with the plastic bags.
"Sophia, what’s wrong with you? Do you need..." Evander’s voice abruptly stopped. In the bedroom, Sophia was leisurely lying on the bed playing with her phone, surrounded by snacks – a large bag of dried plums and beef jerky.
"What are you doing here?" Sophia turned her head sensitively because Evander’s sudden voice made her hand slip, exiting the game screen.
"Sigh," Evander placed a hand on his chest, sighed, walked over, and sat at the foot of her bed. He placed one large hand on the back of Sophia’s head, pulling her to his chest.
Suddenly, Sophia was rendered motionless by his actions, blinking twice without resisting.
"You little rascal, do you know how worried I was about you? My sister-in-law said you were unwell, so I rushed over," Evander said, holding Sophia’s head with one hand, gently stroking her back with the other, a subconscious gesture, yet warm.
He sighed again and said, "Move in with me. I’ll feel more at ease. Although, I can’t promise you a grand wedding or a marriage certificate for now. But as long as we love each other, that certificate is just a piece of paper. It can’t guarantee anything."
Evander’s words were moving, and Sophia was about to be touched by him. But remembering what Titus Zane had said, that easily forgiving would only make him take her for granted, she pushed him away, giving him a disdainful look.
"Evander, stop using tricks for kids on me. We already broke up, and it’s too late to say anything now."
"It’s not too late," Evander pulled Sophia’s head close again, resting his forehead against hers, speaking seriously with their gazes intertwined.
"I know my attitude that day was terrible. If it hadn’t hurt so much, you wouldn’t have fainted. I don’t want to apologize anymore. After all, it’s my fault we lost our child. Sophia, give me another chance. From now on, I’ll keep my distance from any woman who fancies me. My body and heart, Evander Lancaster’s, belong only to you."
Sophia...
She felt a bit light-headed, as if she were about to float. She really wanted to forgive him right now, yet—
If she forgave him just like this, would Titus blame her?
She couldn’t betray her comrade; being a traitor is the most disgraceful!
Sophia lowered her gaze, pouting and murmuring, "Let’s see how you do."
