Chapter 1319 - 1314: This Is Only the Beginning (Tormenting the Wretch)

After changing into slippers, Nicholas Croft gave instructions to the maid at the door, "Xiaomei, take Miss’s suitcase to my room.""Yes, sir." Xiaomei agreed readily, then changed into slippers and dragged the suitcase towards the stairs.

Aunt Wang followed along to help her carry the suitcase up the stairs.

Nicholas Croft held Sophie Foster’s hand and walked to the sofa, where they sat down together. Hannah Hargrave lifted her chin, taking a deep breath like a drowning person before suddenly turning around.

"Nicholas Croft! What on earth do you want!"

Facing Hannah Hargrave’s outburst, Nicholas Croft spread his hands innocently, "I’m not doing anything, just bringing my Goddaughter home to stay. You’re the one being overly suspicious."

"Goddaughter?" Hannah Hargrave repeated the word through clenched teeth, then let out a cold laugh, raised her hand, and pointed at Sophie Foster again, "Nicholas Croft, do you dare say you and this woman are truly father and daughter?"

"Of course, if you don’t believe me, have a look." Nicholas Croft made a face of helplessness, then took a household registration book from his suit pocket to hand to Hannah Hargrave, knowing well what she cared about most, intentionally provoking her.

Hannah Hargrave took the household registration book, her trembling hand slowly opening it, a bad premonition growing in her heart, perhaps...

She opened the second page and saw her name still noted as "spouse," exhaling slowly in relief. Then she turned to the third page and saw the name Genevieve Croft,

Relationship to head of household: Daughter,

Hannah Hargrave’s vision went black, her body swayed, almost falling backward.

"What do you think? I didn’t lie to you." Noting Hannah Hargrave’s reaction, Nicholas Croft slightly curled his lips, asking calmly.

Sophie Foster remained with her arms crossed on the sofa, legs crossed, a slight mocking smile pulling at her lips.

"Nicholas Croft!" Hannah Hargrave held her forehead with one hand, clutching the household registration book with the other, her teeth biting her lower lip tremblingly, taking deep breaths to prevent herself from fainting from anger.

"I, Hannah Hargrave, have never done anything to wrong you; why are you treating me like this?"

"What have I done?" Nicholas Croft frowned innocently, "Hannah, don’t make a mountain out of a molehill, okay? I’m only thirty-two, other men my age have children galore, I just also want to enjoy family bliss, how is that wronging you?"

"You!" Hannah Hargrave raised her arm to point at Nicholas, but suddenly everything went black, and she fell backward.

With a thud, Hannah Hargrave hit the marble floor.

"Baby, does this make you feel any better?" Nicholas Croft turned his gaze to Sophie Foster.

Sophie Foster narrowed her eyes, a gleam of ruthlessness flashing through them, lifting her chin and saying harshly, "This is just the beginning!"

She finished speaking, got up, and walked towards the stairs.

Watching Sophie Foster’s figure ascending the stairs, Nicholas Croft’s handsome face did not show any relaxation for having punished Hannah Hargrave; rather, it appeared heavy.

He didn’t want his Lara to become so gloomy, malicious, and cold-hearted. If he could, he’d rather be the unforgivable bad guy, allowing his Lara to remain as bright and carefree as she used to be.

When Sophie Foster’s figure disappeared upstairs, Nicholas Croft also withdrew his gaze, crouched down in front of Hannah Hargrave to retrieve the household registration book from her hand, then stood up and instructed upstairs.

"Aunt Wang, call for an ambulance!"
